Perfume E-Commerce Spec & Concept Storefront
Full build spec, scope of work and a server-rendered concept storefront for an India-first online fragrance store planned on Shopify.

The problem
A new fragrance retailer in India wanted to sell authentic designer and Middle Eastern perfumes online. Buyers online worry about three things: whether the bottle is genuine, whether they will like a scent they can’t smell, and whether it will arrive. The owner needed a clear plan and something visual to react to before committing to a build.
What I built
- Development spec: a 21-section brief covering information architecture, page specs, catalogue and search, product pages, checkout, admin workflows, analytics events, non-functional requirements and MVP acceptance criteria.
- Platform decision: Shopify first, with perfume data held in metafields and metaobjects (notes, families, concentration, longevity, sillage, occasion). A custom stack only if later requirements need it.
- Perfume data model: a controlled taxonomy so filters use fixed values, not free text. Samples, decants and discovery sets are real products with their own stock.
- Scope of work: a phased MVP plan covering India payments, cash-on-delivery rules, shipping integration and a product import template with a validation report.
- Concept storefront: a responsive landing page with a campaign hero, trust strip, scent finder, product grid, notes guide, a Middle Eastern edit, discovery sets, reviews, journal and email capture.
- Build and tests: server-rendered on a Workers-style runtime, with a test that renders the page and checks its key content and social-sharing metadata.
